More than you can carry is not wealth; it is bait. Surplus spoils, slows the march, and announces itself downwind to everything with an appetite. Take what serves and walk away from the rest - the discipline of leaving plenty behind is the skill this moment is testing.

Upright. Doral's snares are full by dawn - enough to feed the camp and smoke a week's surplus besides.

Inverted. The snares are full past carrying, and by the time Doral has dressed the third hare, the blood-smell has brought a bear upwind of camp.
