Upright

The situation is bad but here is something specific that addresses the harm. Quiet, practical, bought time if nothing else.

The harm is ahead of you and the remedy behind - nothing in the kit cures this. What the kit can do is narrower and still worth doing: slow the spread, dull the worst, keep the body in the fight for one more march. Bought time is not health. It is the raw material that rescue is made from, if rescue is coming.

Inverted

The holding action is holding better than it has any right to. The measure meant to buy a day is winning the argument outright - color returning, the poison retreating, the patient asking for food. Promise nothing yet. But the time you bought may quietly be becoming the cure - and nobody has yet asked what you will do with a second chance.

In Play

Upright. The adder's bite is beyond Doral's kit, but the black-root poultice slows it - the boy can walk, and the surgeon is two days downriver.

Inverted. By the second dawn the swelling is visibly falling - the black-root is beating the venom on its own, and the surgeon may only need to confirm it.
