Upright

The labor partnership produced something new and valuable beyond the work itself. A future asset arrived unexpectedly.

Work done in good partnership has produced more than the work. Something new has arrived that was not in the bargain - an animal born, a bond formed, an asset that will grow if it is tended. It is not payment; it is increase, and increase compounds. The care you have put in is starting to answer for itself.

Inverted

The increase came early, or came needy. What should have been a windfall is, for now, a mouth: something young, fragile, or ill-timed that must be fed and warmed and watched precisely when you have the least to spare. It may yet grow into wealth. Tonight it is work.

In Play

Upright. The plow season ends with the ox-team's calf standing healthy in Edda's pen - worth more than her wages, and hers by the hiring terms.

Inverted. The calf comes a month early in the middle of the drive, and Edda's nights now belong to keeping it breathing.
