Upright

Institutional approval, freely and publicly given. Someone with real organizational authority has decided you are useful, trustworthy, or simply worth backing. Doors open. People notice.

Recognition arrives with a seal on it. A body that keeps records has entered your name on the right side of the ledger, openly and on purpose. Being public, it travels: doors will open in towns you have never visited, on the strength of ink you never saw signed.

Inverted

The seal binds both ways. Institutional favor is never only a gift - it is enrollment, and members are expected to behave like members: dues, appearances, the right sort of company, work accepted when the body asks it. The standing is real and worth keeping. Just notice that keeping it has become one of your jobs.

In Play

Upright. The guildmaster names Tamsin a fellow before the assembled houses; within the month, workshops in three cities have written to offer her bench space.

Inverted. Fellowship arrives with the guild's calendar attached: committee seats, apprentices assigned, and a polite note about the private commissions fellows do not take.
